Rob Hughes

As Senior Vice President and Partner, Rob Hughes leads Ames & Gough’s Philadelphia office, which he founded in 2007. He works with clients across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York, providing hands-on service and building lasting relationships with architects, engineers, and design firms of all sizes.

Rob brings a unique perspective to risk management, having spent more than a decade at XL Insurance in roles including senior counsel and vice president before transitioning to the brokerage side of the industry. He also served as executive vice president at Thomas J. Sharpe & Associates, where he specialized in professional liability and loss-prevention services for design professionals.

A graduate of Lafayette College, Rob earned his law degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law. Clients value his ability to combine legal insight with practical solutions to complex insurance challenges. Away from work, Rob enjoys time with his family—including his grandchild—and can often be found outdoors with his two dogs. His approachable style and commitment to relationships are what make him a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues alike.
