
As Senior Vice President and Partner, Frances Railey brings more than three decades of experience serving design-firm clients with a unique blend of expertise, insight, and personal care. Based in Washington, D.C., she oversees service for some of the firm’s largest clients and is widely recognized for her depth of knowledge in underwriting and client service.
Frances joined Ames & Gough in 1993 after beginning her career at Victor O. Schinnerer, where she underwrote professional liability for architectural and engineering clients nationwide. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Duke University and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Frances also holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
Beyond her professional achievements, Frances is fluent in Spanish and active in her community, serving on the Women’s Board of the American Heart Association. Known for her sharp insight and steady guidance, she believes strong client relationships are built on trust, clarity, and genuine care. When she’s not working with clients or volunteering, Frances enjoys time with family and friends—and can always be counted on to bring warmth and perspective to any conversation.
